George W. Bush was a two term President that began the erosion process of many of our rights protected under the Bill of Rights. He did so starting with the Patriot Act. He also increased Government spending like no other President before him, and has only been surpassed in that by Barack Obama. Not to mention he started a war in Iraq on misguided information.
Well another Bush family member, Jeb, who was the Governor of Florida until 2007 is inching closer to throwing his hat in the ring for the 2016 Presidential race. From Newsmax:
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will speak for the first time at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, a clear sign that he is mulling a run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.
...News that Bush will take the stage at the conference comes as The National Review reports that Bush this week is meeting in Washington with a number of cabinet members of his brother, former President George W. Bush. When asked to comment directly on the rumors the meeting was tied to a forthcoming run, Bush would only say the meeting was about education policy.
Hearing that Jeb may be in preparation for a 2016 run gets me thinking. Do we really need or want another Bush in the White House? I'm pretty sure a great majority of Americans will say no. I also think that if the republican party backs another Bush ticket for the White House, it is doomed to fail from the beginning.
I say that of course as someone who voted for George W. Bush in both the 2000 and 2004 elections. I am also one of many who has regretted that decision ever since.
What do you think? Would you support a Jeb Bush run for President? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments.
