It’s not looking good for a lot of the Democratic candidates financially. Recently, financial disclosures show that 11 candidates are operating their campaigns at a deficit and eight others have less than $1 million to help move their campaigns along. Other than the front-runners—Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Pete Buttigieg— Democratic candidates are struggling.

“This is the doomsday scenario for a lot of campaigns, where they’re grasping for air to keep their campaigns alive and to live another day,” said Washington Democrat strategist Andrew Feldman. “You can’t build an organization. You can’t build an operation that turns enthusiasm into votes without having resources to do it.”

It’s not surprising that a lot of these candidates haven’t generated enough funds from donors for their campaigns and a lot of that can be attributed to little support from the American people in general.

The Democratic National Convention announced 20 candidates qualified for the next round of debates and that list will likely shrink near the very end of the summer. We can’t say that we’re surprised these candidates and their bad ideas are having such a hard time gaining financial support.
