ATLANTA, Ga. – Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund (TPPCF) Chairman Jenny Beth Martin – responding to a new campaign ad from West Virginia Congressman Evan Jenkins’ campaign that falsely portrays his campaign rival, Patrick Morrisey, shaking hands with Hillary Clinton – today released the following statement:

“Liberal Evan Jenkins has just disqualified himself from consideration for the West Virginia Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.

“You’ve heard of Fake News? Well, now we’ve got Fake Campaign Ads.

“I’ve seen rough tactics in campaigns, but this ad is so far over the line of what’s acceptable it should go in the Admakers’ Hall of Shame.

“Let’s get one thing straight – when it comes to supporting Hillary Clinton, EVAN JENKINS is the candidate who rallied for her when she was campaigning for President. Patrick Morrisey has never even MET Hillary Clinton.

“What’s even more disgusting is that Evan Jenkins’ campaign team created that false image of Patrick shaking hands with Hillary Clinton by taking a photograph of Patrick shaking hands with PRESIDENT TRUMP, IN THE OVAL OFFICE and then used computer software to cut out the image of President Trump and replace it with an image of Hillary Clinton.

“To drain the Swamp in Washington, we need men and women of integrity, leaders we can count on. Evan Jenkins’ fake campaign ad proves he lacks the integrity – in fact, the basic decency – to serve in the United States Senate.

“West Virginia voters can send a message to Washington that it’s time to end the corruption of our politics. They can start by punishing Evan Jenkins for this outrageous fake campaign ad.

“A vote for Patrick Morrisey next Tuesday in the GOP primary for U.S. Senate is the best way to do that, and we urge all voters to make a plan to be a voter for Patrick Morrisey for U.S. Senate.”
